RE: [Harp-L] Shaker microphones

If it has an XLR (3pin) connector...
The hot lead could be different on the mic than on the cord. You can buy
cords which are "pin 2 hot" or "pin 3 hot". Or you could open the
connector on the cord and re-solder it to match your mic. The pins are
usually numbered on the connector.
If it has an XLR, I would take the mic to a music store and try
different cords with it. Tell the clerk you want to try pin 2 hot and a
pin 3 hot setups.

If it has a 1/4" jack, then I would suspect a connection problem within
the mic. If it never worked from day one, I would be reluctant to
suspect a problem with the crystal element.

Subject: [Harp-L] Shaker microphones

Have just finished shifting house and during the packing came across a
Shaker mike that i bought about 5-6 years ago.Thing was i could never
get it
to work.At the time i had some vague idea it was an impedance mismatch
so
put it to one side to look at later.Course not exactly being a human
dynamo
i never got round to it.
I have been to the Shaker web site and it says that
its
crystal mike (mine) is set up for high Z.That means it should work into
a
guitar amp imput? No luck into my Fender Champ (reissue)
Anyone have any experience with these mikes that might
throw
some light on my problem

Thanks
Rick
