The thing that sets Sam Hinton apart is not the musical style of his repertoire (though I guess you could call it sort of old-timey). Rather, it's what he does with the harmonica that is really interesting.
He has a highly developed ability to play melody, rhythmic chords AND an independent quasi-bass line all at once on the diatonic harmonica.
He also puts this facility to work on two other kinds of harmonica:
==The Chordomonica, a harmonica that looks like a chromatic except it has two slide buttons instead of one, which can be used alone or in combination to play six different four-note chords anywhere on the harp, together with, of course, melodies.
==The pipe flue harmonica. Instead of reeds, this harmonica has miniature organ pipes. You can hear that he's using harmonica playing techniques, but the sound coming out is more like a calliope.
You can read more about Sam at:

He has a double CD out. You can hear some samples from it at CD Baby:

Is he an old timey player, blues, jazz???
Thanks
Mark
