RE: [Harp-L] Re: Sam Hinton instructional harmonica videos

I missed 'em, dang it! I bought the CD set when they were mentioned here a couple of years back or whatever. He's an all-round very interesting gent, harmonica playing aside. Having said that, his harp playing is wonderful, and just different enough from the usual to reccommend him to any player with a little curiosity.
There's stuff on the CDs recorded on the radio back in the 30s with Sam playing fiddle tunes (note bends and all) on guitar and racked harp (I assume it's racked, but judging by Sam's abilities, he could be playing the damned thing shoved up his left nostril - you'd never know!)
Sam is one of the very few people I have heard too, who has troubled to make use of Cham ber Huang's double-slide Chordomonica, and the results are impressive.

I watched most of them -skimming. He was really cool... is he still with us.
It looked like a commercial instructional series and I guess they were taken down due to copyright violations. I suggest that people go buy the videos and support this great harmonica artist/national treasure. I don't see the videos for sale anywhere, but maybe contact him and ask---

Looks like Sam is alive and well at 91 in San Diego:
