Daring to differ...I actually like the Chrometta8. I wouldn't say "it's a toy not worthy of the Hohner name".
I think it's great for vamping performances/sing-a-long tunes on the fly.
I like the bigger holes..why not have a change from concentrating on the larger Chromatics, which to my mind are a whole other ball game to play plus pricewise and as an instrument.
I've used a Chrometta in my 'tool' kit for many years and find it useful, easy and fun to use. However if you really want to mess with a Chromatic players head try the Hohner Slide Harp ? For beginners however, possibly the "270" or "CX12" is good advice and they are a 'real' Chromatic Harmonica to learn on.
I've just got a sweet spot for the old Chrometta8. It's easy to knock out those old timey tunes on it and get the crowd singing along. I think thats what it's all about at the end of the day.
