RE: [Harp-L] Re: Hohner Chrometta harps

Funny this should come up. I haven't seen one for years, then just yesterday someone gve me Chrometta 14, pretty new, to look over as they thought a "reed" had gone bang. It was just a windsaver that they could see sticking up when they looked down the back. It was still working, even though the stiffener strip at the base was all bent up. Another windsaver was a bit buzzy but that was easy to put right. Now come on, Hohner factory! The harp was evenly responsive to robust playing and was in tune. A good few valves were a bit poppy, nothing too drastic, and the harp played ten times better after I'd warmed it up thoroughly. That big old slide is a bit rattly and loose-feeling though. Cheap and cheerful, I'd say, and perfectly serviceable as long as you don't expect the earth.
