Re: [Harp-L] BandMaster
I had a 'Weldtmeister' 10 hole diatonic back in the early '70s. It was missing the usual hole 1 configuration with the (talking C harp) C blow and D draw, so the 1st hole was E-G.......I think that's how it was. Don't recall how the rest of it resolved, and I don't recall what happened to it. If I had it now, I'd probably treasure it for it's oddness alone.

No, sorry it's a Bandmaster in name only. Here's a page on the original:

The Bandmaster has two megaphones for side vents, maple comb. The reedplates are the same as a Seydel Solist.
When the East German communist party nationalized Seydel in after WWII, they quit making the super cool harps and started making some less-quality, more quantity harps for trade in Germany and the Soviet Bloc. But, the Bandmaster was a huge name, so they kept it, kind of like "Marine Band" applies to about 50 bazillion Hohners, in addition to the actual Marine Band... only the original Bandmaster was discontinued.

To all: have a Bandmaster in front of me. Not sure if it is the same as the 1898??? It has a red plastic comb. 24 double holes total 48? Bought it on e-bay. seems to play well . Key C
