I think you might be right, at least in my case.
Having finally gotten consistency of single notes on draws 8-10, I think I
probably do have atendency to, in the name of confidence, "get into it", and
maybe I haven't quite mixed in enough of refinement with enthusiasm.
In the case of my g harp, I may have, as we say in computers, a genuine
hardware problem, but the d harp's behavior is intermittent, and that would
suggest, again in computer-speak, a user problem.
I'll try to restrain my excitement about the seemingly
umpteen-hundred-and-one things one might do with that minor triad(draws
8-10) and see if I can't draw more consistently.
Thanks,
Brad Trainham

Holes 8 - 10 can be problematic in response when too much force is used -
more so than a gapping problem.
Breathing the harmonica will result in more tone/volume than blowing and
sucking. However, this is a hard discipline to adopt (or even understand) if
the player approaches the harmonica as an instrument to blow air through.
Also, there is a built in human response that items that are "higher up"
need more energy - reaching higher to pick up something off a shelf uses
more energy than grabbing items at eye level, for instance.
Try to resist this natural response - the higher you go on the harmonica,
the more you should relax your approach to achieve the best results.
