[Harp-L] re: was respect, now composers

Both Bach and Little Walter took a narrow, formulaic traditional
approach to composing. That's okay. Sonnets are a formula too, and
Shakespeare was still able to groove with it. Bach came up with some
cool ideas around counterpoint and different tuning schemes for
keyboards. Little Walter used electronics and distortion as a means of
expression. Both composed extrodinary music.

As a composer, Bach was better with the harmonies and modulation
whereas Little Walter had a much better feel for rhythm. Bach never
had a single hit on the Billboard R&B top ten. Most folks I know that
like Bach like Little Walter equally well.
