I haven't been to a lot of different cities to compare blues scenes, but 
if you are looking for a great blues scene you have to check out Kansas 
City.  You can go to a jam and get on stage 7 days a week, some days as 
many as 4 or 5 different clubs.  KC is also home to this year's Blues 
Challenge winners Trampled Under Foot (www.tufkc.com), as well as world 
famous Lee McBee.  Another of my favorites is the Grand Marquis 
(http://www.grandmarquis.net/).  There are way too many great blues 
bands in Kansas City to list.
