Re: [Harp-L] Hohner Quality

I broke a reed on the 4 draw of a C Marine Band during a gig in
Jackson Hole, Wyoming in the summer of 1976. About 1/4 inch of the
reed hit me right on the tongue; did not go down my throat. It's the
only time it ever happened, and it spooked me for a while about
bending too hard.

Luckily it happened at home and my wife could see it and get it out with a pair of hemostats that we just happened to have on hand. If it had happened on a gig, I may have had to go to the emergency ward. I chalked it up to a freak accident until it happened again about a year later. This time it didn't stick in me and I was able to retreive it on my own before I swallowed it. That time it DID happen at a gig. It freaked me out and thankfully it happened on the last song of the last set. It hasn't happened since and I hope it never happens again.
