[Harp-L] Re: Subject: Chaucerian English

"You Scots" That sounds like a pejorative. Heh.

I am from Pennsyl-Tucky. Not far from the West by GoD Virginia border. And
my great grandmother who was born in Scotland, used some very colourful
Chaucerian english. She described anatomy, bodily functions, acts of
various sorts un-speakable in polite company. All, perfectly good
english!

And she used to curse at grandpaw in some kind of foreign language that
sounded like spasmotic germanic speaking in tongues. Nobody in the house
knew what she was saying but grandpaw. That's probably a good thing.

Now, you want to hear a strange language? Try my grandfather on the other
side. He's from Wales. They really talk funny over there, yeah?

Mandatory musical content... My grandfather (great grandmaw's son) played
the banjo and used to host musicale's. (Jam sessions) My uncle - one of his
sons played Chrom. They did alot of the standards of the 30's and 40's and
some dixieland. Green Dolphin Street, etc. My first tune ever - that I
played complete was I'm Looking Over a Four Leaf Clover - on the tenor when
I was 4. Oh, I have my uncle's old Chroms. 3 of them. 10 hole Chromonica
in C, 12-hole Super Chromonica in G and a 64 Super Chrom in C. The 10-holer
needs a spring.

PEACE
Scott
