Bill Monroe did record with the accordian on his first Columbia session in  Feb.1945. The harmonica was a part of his stage show in late 1944, but never recorded.

You can add the Bear Family set of Charlie Monroe which came out recently. "I'm Old Kentucky Bound" BCD 16808. In it are two great recordings with the harmonica of Jimmy 'Slim' Martin.

  Bill C. Malone's authoritative book "Country Music USA" mentions that Monore used both accordian and harmonica early on in his bands. He may not have redcorded with them, though.
