Re: [Harp-L] Replacement Lee Oskar Reed Plates

Marvin, the first thing I would do is take your feeler gauge and "plink" the reed to see if you get a clear tone. If not, something small may still be lodged in the reed slot. The next thing it could be is the reed might be out of alignment, not freely vibrating in the reed slot. At that point you'll need a reed wrench to center the reed. This may only be a slight adjustment. Lee Oskar has a tool kit that has a reed wrench that will fit the harmonica you have. The third thing it could be is the gap is too low. If the tip of the reed is too low the reed could stall or not play at all. So i would use your feeler gauge to widen the gap. Those are the things I can think of. I hope one of them works for you. You could also send them back to the seller saying the 1 draw doesn't work. I would think a reputable retailer would replace it for you.

I have installed a new set of Lee Oskar Bb reed plates on a Lee Oskar comb and cannot get any sound from the 1 draw. I have tightened the plates screws down as far as they will go and have run a feeler gauge through the reed. Can somebody advise me on getting the 1 draw to sound?
