RE: [Harp-L] Sonny Jr. / Cruncher/ Mic
This is certainly not hijacking the thread. I was in dire need of a
mic that would be perfect for my Sonny Jr. 410 because I was down to two
truly working mics. I had been using a SM545 that Tom Ellis scooped for me
and the "Atomic Blues Blaster" that Steve Warner recreated with his Low End
Boom Element. But, since I'm in line for a "Cruncher" I decided the mic I
would purchase would need to be perfect for my upcoming new purchase as well
as with my SJ410. Emailed SJ and the PhD of Tone (The Amp Doctor) prescribed
a Turner 254(small body shell) with a nasty CR element which he had to throw
together for my out of his arsenal of shells and mics. Needless to say, the
mic is super charged! If you're in need or looking for a killer mic.....see
if SJ can outfit you with the exact same Turner he turned me on to! Or, get
him to prescribe you one for your specific needs. I can say that without a
doubt you will be shocked, amazed, and overjoyed with this mic. Everybody is
always talking about having a mic that gets that 50's crunch, growl,
overdrive, that Chicago feel, etc. If you can't make a mic and amp give you
some overdrive on your own you're already in trouble. No amp or mic can do
it for you! But, if you can get some response then this Turner will give you
serious response. It's explosive! It's hot! My first listen came in a
Pignose 20 which I use in my car studio. Blistering! Then home to its new
host my SJ410. Scorching! My gig Thursday night was a river cruise. My
Turner had the old Cuyahoga River thing in effect and happening in Europe.
The Moselle Valley was aflame on both the German and Luxembourg shores!
Be good!

I guess the mic thing is a hijack of this thread. To keep it rolling, I
listened to the clips and, hey, it sounds great.
Good job Gary. Good to hear you play a little as well.
As for the hijack, try mrmicrophone.com. Dennis is an absolute wizard when
it comes to mics. Give him a buzz, he
can DEFINATELY help you out.
