[Harp-L] help a fallen vet

I got a call today about the passing of a local harp player and vet.

The guy was a big hulking fellow with a teddy bear personality. His name was Buck.
He was exposed to Agent Orange during the Vietnam era and like others never got the proper medical treatment he needed in time or
proper compensation for the exposure. He spent a good part of his life on disability not knowing if the next breath might be his last.

He lived many years with less then 1/2 a lung. Breathing was very difficult for this big fellow but he loved to come to
the jam I hosted every thursday and belt out some blues on the harp to the best of his ability.

A few weeks ago he didn't make it to bed. His wife found him on his knees on the living room floor gasping for air. She called for an ambulance but it
took 12 hours before one showed up since they didn't have medical insurance. His wife tried to revive him but it was too late.
He was in his late 50's. All he left his wife was $7. and some odd cents.

I was asked to see if I could find buyers for his 280 chromatic (black comb, screws) and his EV 630 mic. I think I might have sold him the EV mic several years ago.
If so the mic might be set up with a 1/4 inch input. The last I'd seen Buck was about 5 years ago. He had gotten to bad to blow harp.

Rather then setting a price on the items I said I would ask players to make an offer for them since they might offer more to help out his widow.

Whomever buys the 280 I will check it, clean it, tune it and replace any valves that need replaced. Buyers pays for shipping.
Postal Money orders only made out the widows name.

I made arrangements to pick up his items so I could try to sell them.

Email me offlist if you are interested in one or both of the items.

take care
mike
