My preference leans towards diatonic.
I have heard some players, Marvin Jaramillo comes to mind, that had a tone and phrasing that I liked on chromatic. Most often. the reeds and the way the bent notes sound in a diatonic has a immediate hook.
The idea of getting so much from a ten hole diatonic earns my respect.
I love and respect chromatic playing; I prefer diatonic harmonica for its tone.
Hey, who plays chromatic with a tone that fools the listeners' ear into hearing a diatonic (by tone and bending, chops.etc.)?

As long as I'm hung up on Jazz:
For those of you who play: chromatic or diatonic?
(No, this isn't a "Guys!! Tell me what I should
do/play/think" thread.)
But why do YOU play the instrument you do? They both
have their advantages and disadvantages...so what
pushed you over the fence?
