Hello Mike,

Anyone ever see or play these harps?
Looks like the reeds are attached separately. No reedplate to speak of.
There are reedplates. They are screwed on a white plastic comb, which I
think is glued to the mouthpiece. Then from both sides there are two
black plastic - let's say - "comb covers" screwed to the reedplate/comb
construction. On the pictures this looks as if the reeds are seperately
countersinked (?) into a black comb. This whole cartridge of
combs/reedplates/mouthpiece can easily be attached into the housing.
It's Richard Smith's developpement. The one who already made the
Lightning Harp with the build in microphone. (I think he is still on
this list).
I am not sure if this system is very airtight. But the harmonix is
comfortable to hold and you have the option to build a microphone into
the backside of the housing for amplified playing.
The mouthpiece is nearly 2 cm wide, so the reeds are much more away from
the mouth compared to a common 10 hole. this may be a reason that he
harmonix is not so loud. Also the width of the housing seems to damp the
sound furthermore. All this if played acoustically.
I have played one of these only once for a few minutes, so my
observations cannot be more than a short notice of a first impression.
Nevertheless, I hope this gives you a little bit of help.
