amp recommendation for loud band

Hello,I am playing harp with an extremely loud band...competing with 2 guitar players with Marshalls, a heavy hitting drummer, and a loud bass player. I have tried a number of amps and I still cant get the volume I need without feeding back. What amp will produce the most volume for harmonica?

thanks Lindsey

I'm sure a Meteor of Sonny Jr. would fit the bill you need Had I know of these amps I would have gotten one more then likely

But .

I don't live near these people who make them ----

So- - -

There are some ways to go and miking a amp through a P.A. is a possible answer .

But - - - This first to consider on amp only choice .

Recently I used a single 12 inch speaker driven by a 60 watt Carvin tube amp and it worked well next to two Marshall Tube amps and two 4X12 cabinets ! Mind you I was miked through a P.A. as well as my amps power .

At another place two Sundays ago I was in a jam session with a Marshall Solid state 100 watt guitar head and a 4X12 speaker cabinet next to it and a 100 watt solid state Yamaha Bass amp and a Crate 100 watt solid state guitar amp . My 60 watt Carvin tube amp did the trick and did it well with out being miked through a P.A. in this instance .

Check out Carvin guitar tube amps some real heavy guitar players I know swear by them & their price is about the most competitive you will find anywhere too besides their reliability .

Now about having your harp miked through a p.a. using a state of the art modeler before the p.a.

The Digitech GNX4 :

It will absolutely blow your mind .

My GNX4 has 10 stomp boxes and one of them is the legendary :

" Ibanez Tube Screamer "

That one alone is a great stomp to have and since this kind of unit ( the GNX4 ) can be plugged directly to P.A. and your present amp you are using for your harp you get the added advantage of having a personal monitor in your amp to hear yourself on and that's a super plus beside your being heard by the audience by the p.a.

The GNX4 also has an assortment of really superb FXS that will really dress out anyones harp quiver to the max if used right .

For your mind blowing solo's you get to use the GNX4's :

" JamMan " function and do some really tripped out stuff too , yep you can reach into the territory Jimi Hendrix did with his use of an " Echoplex " looping his guitar runs and playing over then , only you get more possibilities than Jimi did :)with a 2 gig memory card you have up to a 6 plus hour loop to create .

And .....

When you want you can record with it as a stand alone digital .wav quality CD level of sound too .

You can do one or two channels at once and up to 8 total and if that is not enough on the machine you can edit a channel(s) and then merge one of the 8 channels or two into one single or two channels to free up space to continue adding channels indefinitely and when using it through a p.c. up to 4 channels at once can be recorded via the USB .

You get to use a XLR microphone ( a really expensive 48 volt phantom microphone ) too for input beside the 1/4 inch instrument input . sSo if you have a personal microphone you can use it for your vocals and or any other acoustic instrument .

You have a choice of using the FXs with this unit or not for the microphone and that makes for some fantastic possibilities . It has a really decent delay with a foot controlled foot switch for triggering and controlling the delay time ( " tap tempo " ) by simply matching the beat of the drummer's cadence with your foot .

It's got a super midi drum machine with 100 patterns and 10 different drum kits to choose and that's better than any other midi drum machine Digitech makes too .

You can with your p.c. or make and have 100 midi song files to choose from that you personally make up by using a USB keyboard and your p.c. using provided midi recording software that come with it .

Compared to a amp at the same cost you can see the obvious cost bang for the buck temptation a unit like this can offer a person once you get all the info you need to make an intelligent choice .

What I just wrote only scratches the surface of the possibilities a GNX4 can offer a harp man . It allows a chance for a single harpman to be a solo act like a piano player or a guitar player ! ! !

Good Luck .

Sincerely :

Hurricane Ramon
