Re: [Harp-L] amp recommendation for loud band--amp height

Lindsey,

Have you tried requesting that the guitar players elevate their amps? I'm sure that they claim that they need to hear themselves. If you place each guitar player's amp at head level (even on the back line) they will turn down by default (maybe). Also, if you play with one earplug to hear yourself through the soft tissue in your head, and play behind your amp (letting the amp face the audience at close to floor monitor position), you may be able to get a balanced house sound (stage mix will suffer though). Just a thought. The changing bands idea sounds like an option, but if you are playing with friends and/or that band is the only game in town, you might be in a tough situation.

BTW--I met Dan Gage and he knows what he's talking about.

Hello,I am playing harp with an extremely loud band...competing with 2 guitar players with Marshalls, a heavy hitting drummer, and a loud bass player. I have tried a number of amps and I still cant get the volume I need without feeding back. What amp will produce the most volume for harmonica?

thank
Lindsey
