Dig it Richard. I've found that even in smallish  clubs the sound man is 
usually cool to whatever you tell him you want. I always  tell 'em to cut back the 
gain just a little and watch out for too much reverb.  After talking to these 
guys on a cool plain and not acting like a "star" they  are usually very cool 
and watch what my reaction is. If I point at the monitor  they give it too me 
up or down whichever way my thumb points. Lesson learned  over the 
years....................Be cool to the sound man, especially if you  play like I do 
straight thru the board. I'm changing that tho. I'm getting a  cool amped sound 
together.
