Re: [Harp-L] beginner gear?

BTW, here's a SEVENTY DOLLAR ($70) mike and amp rig (complete with cable) on
eBay that *I own* (no connection to seller), that completely blew me away -
and the whole thing'll fit in your pocket and doesn't even need to be
plugged in (runs on 9V battery). Yeah, 250 milliwatts ain't gonna blow you
away, but the tone is RIGHT THERE and amazingly loud for the price, maybe
even loud enough for a small cafe, and certainly loud enough for practice
and for a beginner. Wholeheartedly recommended. And, when she decides to
upgrade, the microphone's a keeper.

Subject: [Harp-L] beginner gear?

| Hey, folks. I was just asked by a relative beginner (can play a little -
| single notes, bend a little, knows a couple blues moves) who is really
eager
| to get an amp and mic. I'm sure this has been discussed ad-nauseum, but
as
| I don't want to turn her over to the sharks at the big box music stores,
| could any of you kind people quickly suggest a harp-friendly beginner's
| setup? This will be used for in-home practice and fun for the forseeable
| future. My guess is that she'd like to stay within the $200-$400 range
| total. Thanks!
