Fwd: [Harp-L] Remembeing Dan Lynch
I used to go there quite a bit in the late 70's.Â
Dan Lynch, 2nd ave. and 13th street. Great place to be to jam on
sundays.Â
Shatkin, Bill Dicey, Dave Therault, Steve Guyger, those are some I
remember.Â
Bob Shatkin would be giving harp lessons on the street corner,Â
guys would come up every so often by appointment for there lesson, and
ifÂ
we we're lucky, Bob would give one on stage too if he was i n the
mood.. Man, that guy wasÂ
such an under rated player. Great place to be on sundays and only an
hourÂ
from my place in CT.Â

Â
Happy Independence Day to all!Â
I was cleaning up my old vinyl and suddenly came up some old "Spivey
records"Â
One was the Dicey Ross Band. Immediately, I was thrusked into some
memories ofÂ
that great old Bar south of Unon Square "Dan Lynch" The gretest joint
in NY. TheÂ
only place you could hear gereat blues and not spend half your
paycheck. TheÂ
Bill Dicey Band, Barbeque Bob and the Spar Ribs, The Holmes Brothers,
some ofÂ
the gretes hapr players. Nat Riddles, Danny Ruso, Adam Gusglow Satan
and Adam)Â
the late Bob Shatkin Uncle Boogie and the Boogie Man,Â
the jams, the critism, I remember Bob Shatkin getting on my case for my
highÂ
note bends were so off. The great durmmer Charles "Honey Boy" telling
me toÂ
"keep it simple" What a time. How many folks were there? Sorry forgot
to mentionÂ
