Hi Pierre,
Personnally, I'm part of that 80%.
I buy lots of CD's, but rarely play them anymore since
I bought a 20GB iPod two years ago. I import all my
CD's directly into iTunes, rate the songs, add
comments like song and harp keys, etc, and let my
'smart' playlists take it from there.
Then I listen to the songs from the CD on my iPod.
I have just about my entire CD music collection in my
iTunes libary, and have added lots of songs from my
vinyl LP collection.
I also add lots of harmonica excercises and learning
materials that I have accumulated over the years.
It would be cool if the iPod had the ability to slow
the tempo of the music, and set A and B starting/end
points. But it doesn't, so I often use Audacity to
extract bits and pieces, and record copies at
different speeds, then add them to my iTunes library.
I prefer buying CD's then music downloads, even if I
do not play the CD's later... they make for good
backups, even though I backup my iTunes music files
and libraries on an external hard drive.
I love my iPod and iTunes!
