Re: [Harp-L] Seydel paddy Richter
Hi Jimmy,
Thanks for visiting the Seydel site! Looks like maybe you took the
German description and ran it through babelfish or something
similar...Theoretically if you open www.seydelusa.com it opens
automatically in English, or if you do see German you can click on the
button in the upper right and get English. There's a little button up
there to choose US$ for ordering also (which again is supposed to be
automatic when you access the site through seydelusa ). Anyway, it is
all up and running, and ordering is working, but there are some bugs
still to be worked out (like if you do order it _appears_ that a VAT is
being added to your prices, but actually it won't be in the end..but
they are still trying to get that fixed).
Anyway, not all the English is perfect there, but at least it is a lot
better than babelfish...here's the Paddy Richter description as found on
the Seydel website English (US) version:
"Diatonic Bluesharp with Aluminium Comb in Extra Tuning Paddy Richter.
This harp is altered by the hole 3 blow note being raised by a whole tone -
this is very useful for Irish and Celtic Music.
Bending of this note in the normal tuning would be very laborious for fast
jigs, but the rest of the harmonica follows standard Richter tuning.
The name is a synonym for the Irish 'Paddy', and Richter refers to the
closeness to Richter Tuning. This tuning was invented and named by
Brendan Power, and first used on his New Irish Harmonica CD (in both
diatonic and chromatic harmonica versions).
He has written an instruction book/CD for the tuning called Play Irish
Music on the Blues Harp, which is available from his website:

Checked out the snazzy Seydel tuned Paddy Richter at the Seydel
website. Here's an excerpt of their description:
"Blues Favorite Paddy judge
Kind of clay/tone: C
Diatoni Bluesharp with Aluminiumkanzellenkörper in special tendency
Paddy judge
Only in channel this Harp is more highly tuned 3 blisters around a
complete clay/tone, what particularly for Irish Folk is useful.
For the fast Jigs the Benden of this clay/tone would be rather
laborious, whereby the Harp can be played otherwise like the used
judicature pool of broadcasting corporations tendency.
Therefore also the name."
I have always wanted a harp with Aluminiumkanzellenkörper
