RE: [Harp-L] Recommendations for Gigs
Here is my suggestion for a low-budget, highly portable "lighting
system":
Get yourself two "clamp lights" from Wally World or Home Depot - those
lights with the silver metal "bowl" and a spring clamp - and attach them
to two extra mic stands; one at each side of the stage, pointing inward
toward the band. Use 100 watt bulbs. Not the ideal setup, but it will
work great in a pinch. You might need to mess around with the attachment
to make it stay in place, as the clamp will not always stay put on the
small round mic pole. Again, duct tape saves the day. Oh, and don't
forget two extension cords; those lights usually only have a 5 foot cord
on them.

Subject: [Harp-L] Recommendations for Gigs
This may be a little off subject but I figure there is a lot of
experience here so...We play several clubs that do not have a stage or
lighting. I never really paid attention before but someone recently gave
me some pictures from a gig and the entire band is in the dark!
I do not want an elaborate lighting setup so I'm looking for something
that would be quick and easy to setup. I have not worked with any
lighting before but I assume the typical cans would be more of a spot
light rather than broadcast over an area so I'm not really sure how to
go. Any recommendations are appreciated.
