Re: [Harp-L] The overblow wars and the articulation of the overblow
Bingo. "It'll never work" is a ridiculous limiting statement.
"Man will never fly"
"Man will never go the the moon"
"Women will never vote"
"Blacks will never have the same rights as whites"
"You can't play in every key on a single diatonic harmonica"
"You can't roller skate in a buffalo herd"
Anyways, I've found that playing everything with less force (ie, softer) is a better way for me to deal with the OB, given and notes formed through technique.
Also, the attack of the "Overs" is a point of focus. Either I try to bring them forward with a consonant, or soften the notes around them by avoiding a hard beginning. Sometimes instead of bringing the "Overs" closer to the "givens", I might soften the "givens" to sound closer to how I currently play the "Overs".
Hope this helps, Tinus.

So if I could ask all of you to leave the "you shouldn't play them" and the
"it'll never work" trains of thought for a minute to concentrate on
the sound of both the overblow and the normal note I would be very
thankfull.
