Re: [Harp-L] Rod Piazza

It was listening to Rod Piazza play "Rockin' Robin" that made me want to play amplified in the first place, and It was Rods playing that turned me onto the whole West Coast sound.

He is for my money one of the best (if not the best) blues harp players alive today.
I reckon that him, William Clarke and Mark Hummel are probably the most cited (modern) influences by West Coast style harp players today.

A friend of mine saw Rod at a festival in the nineties (unfortunately I couldn't make it!) he said that during the day all the bands were great and as the evening progresed that the standard got higher and higher.

But when Rod Piazza and The Mighty Flyers took to the stage. It became apparent within a couple of bars that they were in a different league to everybody else.

The same friend has seen Kim Wilson, Rick Estrin, James Harman & William Clarke and lots of others, yet still to this day reckons that no one can come close to the undeniable talent that is Rod Piazza & the Mighty Flyers!!!!!!!!!
