Re: [Harp-L] online scales, keyboard, or other noise makers???
Hi Mike
Several years ago I purchased a cool "hand-made" disc from the great
fiddler, Darol Anger (David Grisman, Psychograss, etc.). It was called
"Darol Anger's Digital Sruti Box - for intonation study and zoning out -
drones in all keys". You can get his contact info from his website
http://www.darolanger.com . This disc isn't listed on his site, but he may
still make one up for you. I've had a lot of fun with this thing; you just
make up your own "studies". Here's a description:
"This CD contains drones of 2 tonics an octave apart and a fifth, in just
intonation. Each sequence lasts roughly six minutes and the CD plays through
all the keys in order (the circle of 4ths starting from C). This kind of
technique has been used in Indian classical music for hundreds of years to
perfect and deepen intonation ability. One can play single notes, scales,
exercises, double stops, or difficult passages, or fiddle tunes to these
drones, or you can just play freely and wander among the many layered
intonations of your mind and body. Suggested: major and minor thirds (high
and low) and fifths (high and low). Take your time." Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Staggerin' Jim

Subject: [Harp-L] online scales, keyboard, or other noise makers???
I tried the Bendometer with mixed results. Does anybody know of a site
where I can find sustained notes with names? I would like to work on some
of my bends, inntonation, and my overall tone and am having a hard time
finding a relatively cheap key board.
Namely, I am working on my draw three bends and playing scales without
the inntonation or pitch sounding off/sticking out. I think playing them
against an insturment like a keyboard would be a great deal of help.
Thanks!
Mike
