Re: [Harp-L] Your 'dream' small amp?

There are so many choices in small amps it's hard to believe. They were all built for amplified instruments, mostly guitar and accordion. Most of them were made in the 50s and 60s but there are a lot out there. Almost anything made by Valco, Danelectro, Premier (Multivox)... Gibson made some good small amps. The Sears and Wards amps were made by Valco and Danelectro mostly. A lot of low wattage PA amps are great. Early Fenders in the 15 watt and under category are often good.

You can buy many of the above for $300 or under. You'll probably have to spend some money for a tuneup (capacitors and tubes) but you'll have a dream amp.

A line out is a nice to have. It's a cheap mod that a decent amp tech should be able to do easily.

Just a topic for chat..
It occurred to me that while there are several fine stage amps designed for
harp, there doen't seem to be much in the small practice arena. Is this
because the Kalamzaoo's, Champs, Crates and similar for guitar do the job
just fine?

Describe your perfect 'small' amp.

A particular amp already in existance?

Or an amp with:

Tube/SS/Modeling? Combo/Head? Wattage? Speaker count/size? Appearance? (I think one made in hardwood might convince my wife I can leave
it in the living room)
Reverb?
Tremelo?
FX Loop?
Tone Control compliment?
Master volume?
Headphone out?
Recording out?
???
???
???

I'm not suggesting any of the above -- just a list of ponderings. I'm just
curious what would light your fire.
If there is a vintage amp that is the cat's meow in your eyes, just say what
it is.
