Easier in approach and to start working with this great scale - primary chords to use for "C half-wholetone scale" would be C7, Eb7, Gb7 (F#7), and A7.

diminished scale can be used in any place a Lydian scale can be used
(vertically):

The primary chords over which you might do this (in C)

C Maj.

F# half diminished
Ab 7+5

B7
