Re: [Harp-L] Jazz on Diatonic
This can be done with a little practice. I can do it, Carlos del Junco can, Joe Filisko can, and I'm sure a few others on the "L" can.
Even more fun is Howard's "slight of tongue" where you sustain one note out of either the right or left side and move the tongue on the opposite side creating an alberti bass type accompaniment. I learned how to do this in order to teach my 16 yr old student, RJ Harman, who wanted to duplicate the Beethoven transcription piece that Carlos del Junco does on his Big Boy CD, which is a recreation of Howard Levy's.

there are some people (not me, yet) who can tongue
block a note on the right side of the harp while bending to get the desired
note on the left side of the tongue. ron
