RE: [Harp-L] Subject: If you can't stand the heat....
Not to be redundant...plenty of ice water and some Gatorade. There are also
gimmicks like the Polymer Cool Neck Bands:

The Cool Bandana (sounds like the same idea for the Polymer Cool Neck Band:

Here's an interesting item, a Personal Body Cooling Vest:

And here's the Personal Cooling System from Sharper Image:

I can't attest to any of the items above except for the water and gatorade.
When I've spent time in Palm Springs playing cheap golf on championship
courses in the dead of summer at above 105 degrees, we always had coolers
filled with ice water and towels. I'd take a towel out of the cooler, slip
it on my head ala Lawrence of Arabia, and put my baseball cap back on. It
would cover the back of my neck and keep me cool for minutes at a time. :-)
The steam rising off my head was always a pleasant feeling.
I always sweat when I play and since I play Lee Oskars, a wet harp never
presents a problem with me. It just allows my mouth to slide nicely on the
harp.

Robert Gaustad
