In response to Ben, to be very clear it wasn't me making a case for the 
Butterfield Blues Band version of the Work Song being a jazz 
interpretation.  Remove it from that idiom and my criticism is as you 
allude to not at all valid.  As a musical piece I'd still take issue 
with the intonation problems but I'd also say that about the original 
version of Christo Redentor as recorded by Mr. Musselwhite.  fjm
