Re: [Harp-L] OB, CX or XB?
One of the striking things about most chromaticly played overblow
harmonica stylings and to a slightly lesser degree conventional button
chromatic playing is the lack of chords. Simply put some people use the
ability to play chords on the harmonica as a means of musical
expression. Rather than a musical parlour trick the use of alternately
tuned harmonicas is simply a way to acheive one's personal musical
expression. I think it's why we all flail about somewhat trying to find
a way to play what's in our heads. Pick a convention and there's a
player of enormous talent, usually several. Musical expressiveness is
where you find it. I must say that out of all of this posturing and
preening several gems of wisdom have emerged. I've certainly been glad
I've taken the time to wade through it all to find them. fjm
