Bangor Folk Festival

I just got back from a weekend of massive live music in Bangor, Maine. Tons
of live acts from almost every genre of world music. Very little harp. There
was Jay Summerour, harp player for the Starland Vocal Band playing what they
called Piedmont Blues. It didn't sound Piedmont to me but it was okay.
Still, the festival was phenomenal. So many different rhythms, scales,
harmonies. It was great. All free. Seeing Gatemouth Brown up on stage with
his Gibson Firebird electric, jamming with an acoustic blues guitarist, a
blue grass guy, a honky tonk guy, and two Congolese guitarists was
priceless. Gave me some fresh ideas on music.

We camped out. I jammed with some mandolin players at the campground on
Sunday morning but I couldn't stay long-only had one harp. Bluegrass guys
don't seem to play in E much.

Anyway, there's more to life than Chicago blues. I'm hoping to jam with the
bass balalaika guy someday.
