Daily Almanac - August 25
Vaudeville harmonica player Don Les died on this day in 1994. Les started
his professional career in the 1940's with the Harmonica Rascals. He joined
fellow Rascal Jerry Murad to form the Harmonicats with chord player Al
Fiore. Les was a gifted player who could play some wicked diatonic, which
was featured on some of the Cats' early recordings. Les eventually led his
own Harmonicats after a falling out with Murad in the early 1970's.
That's all I have for today. Have fun and practice.
