Daily Almanac - August 16

Blues guitar and harmonica player Little Eddie Kirkland was born on this day
in 1928. Kirkland was playing for tips at the age of eight and got heavily
into the Blues after moving to Detroit in 1943. He was soon playing
frequently with John Lee Hooker and has managed to make several records of
his own.

Blues legend Robert Johnson died on this day in 1938. Best known as a
singer-songwriter and guitar player, friends of Johnson recall that he
played harmonica well enough to earn enough money in one day, playing
harmonica for tips, to buy himself a new guitar.

That's all I have for today. Have fun and practice.
