Button Boxes and Moothies

The Eliphstone Institute in Aberdeen has a policy of encouraging
traditional arts in the North and North East of Scotland. They have
previously held successful conventions for singing, storytelling and the
North Atlantic fiddle

This November they are holding one for the small portable free reed
instruments such as melodeons, button acordions, concertinas and
mouthorgans. The term moothie mainly refers to the tremolo harmomica.

Guest performers have been invited from England and Ireland as well as
Scotland. The harmonica players approached so far include. Ian Grant, Bryce
Johnstone, and Doddie Murray from Scotland plus Tim and Pip Murphy from
Ireland.

This is a unique occasion to meet and learn about the traditional music of
the area and the playing of the tremolo (as well as the button boxes..).
