Daily Almanac - August 6

Rock singer-songwriter, guitar and harmonica player Pat McDonald was born on
this day in 1952. Pat was half of the new-wave duo Timbuk3, along with his
wife Barbara K.. The two regularly featured either one playing the
harmonica, usually on a neckbrace.

The great Larry Adler passed away on this day in 2001. Larry probably did
more to elevate the harmonica in the fields of Jazz and Classical music than
anyone else before or since. He had over a dozen symphonic works composed
for him as well as having a prolific career playing and recording with
orchestras and with many of the Jazz greats. No harmonica recording
collection would be complete without at least a few of his CD's.

That's all I have for today. Have fun and practice.
