I don't think 1st flat is a good name for 12th position. While the key of F 
may only have 1 flat, the key of F minor has 4 flats. Also if you play 
blues, the key of F has at least 3 flats. I think the term positions 
explains the concept without any possibly misleading terms about sharps and 
flats.
