HELP! - crash course in reed tuning needed!
Hi
I need some help in tuning a dead(flat) reed.
I was playing my heart out on my Marine Band ( key of D )
and suddenly this morning I realized that the 4 Draw
was way flat = almost a 4 Blow. I desperately need this
harp for my first gig on Tuesday. I am reluctant to buy
a new one since I don't really have time to break it in.
I would really appreciate any help on re-tuning the reed.
Besides, because of the time constraint Kevin's Harps
can't guarantee 2 day delivery ( if I can't find a D
locally I'll have to get it from him by 3:30 today).
If nothing works I will have to forage the local music
stores and play the harp a lot by Tuesday - any experience
that you veterans can share would be invaluable - I suppose
I have to tone down my enthusiasm when trying those
dirty JW double-bends on 4-5 Draw.
Of course I could always play in a different key as a last resort
but that is what it really should be - a last resort.
Thanks
Shankar.
