Re: Obnoxious category/OPEN QUESTION.

We have parties where I'm from. They're open to anyone and musicians
from all around usually show up. I'm somewhat associated with the folk scene
where I'm from. These are the people that do this kind of thing. The
Blues guys a group I also move in are much more rigid in there ettiquite
surrounding what they call jams. the folk people are much more open to
sharing musical ideas. I don't have to prove myself to get to play and
anyone regardless of ability gets to play with out stigma. The reverse
is true of the blues scene. Much more cutthroat. Who you know starts to
be very important. I think there's a different asthetic at work with
them. I don't think it's necessarily music. In Tucson where I'm from
the people that play in the blues jams are almost always people without
bands. At the folk parties almost everyone plays in bands although it's
certainly not a requirement. The pub scene sounds fun. I wish we had
the parties every week. I like the challenge of playing music I've never
heard before with people I don't know. Playing over my head is one of my
great joys in life. FJM
