I was looking at the one at the ATC6824 bottom of this page
http://www.audioshop.co.nz/connectors/connectors1.htm

The practical issues are that if you plug it straight into the PA then it will stick out by
a few inches, which may not be an issue most of the time but one day someone's
going to knock it or catch something on it. Also when you're setting up you need
to pass the whole transformer to whoever's working the desk rather than just
chucking him the end of a cable, and at the end of the sessions someones liable
to unplug it and drop it into the spider's web of cables on the floor.

You could get around this by using a microphone lead to connect the transformer
to the PA, but then you may as well use a passive DI box which is easier to spot
and won't roll when the bass player steps on it sending him head first into the
drum kit.

The ATC6824 is a more elegant solution to matching a high impedance microphone
to a low impedance socket than a passive DI box (which contains basically the same
electronics), but it's not the best form for use within the chaos of a band.
