RE: [Harp-L] Jerry Portnoy CDs

Get a harp in A. Without one you'd be burdening yourself unnecessarily with this course. I think a Lee Oskar in A major diatonic would serve you well - good quality and long-lasting. You get what you pay for, and you get a lot for a modest outlay with Lee Oskars. It's probably worth saying that any confirmed non-tongue-blocker buying this set will probably think that they're being pitched right back to square one no matter how good they are - he gets you at it right from the word go. Not a hassle for a beginner though!

Greetings

I am a beginning harp player since May of '05
Learning mostly from Jon Gindick's books.
Have heard here and elsewhere in the the
  web universe.

I have enjoyed reading all your harp wisdom and
madnness in these past months since I left the
dial up world for the speedier broadband one.

I got a Barnes and Noble gift certificate for
Christmas that I am considering using toward
  The Jerry Portnoy CDs.

I have a few questions re: them and am hoping
for some brilliant feedback from you all.

First of all are they worth it? Also at least one
place online I thought it was said you needed
a harp in the key of A to do that program is that
true?I have only a Hohner Golden Melody in C.

Do I need the extra expense of an A harp to make
  that program work for me?
  Thanks in advance

Mark Seagrave
