[Harp-L] Building better harps - How?

Bob Meehan writes: " I know how to build a harp to last longer. I don't have
to fight with
them to get the notes I want, and there are several other factors which
when combined, make a better, longer lasting, repairable when they do
break, harp."

Good for you Bob, I've fooled around with harps for some time myself but in
my case there have been mixed results. Some things I do have become
standard for every harp I buy. Other stuff seems for work inconsistently.

I've been thinking about the whole harp tweaking, harp customization subject
and it's occurred to me the if a good number of us got together and had a
workshop everybody could really go home with some useful skills and info.
This could happen under the umbrella of SPAH or Harp-L or I could just
organize it myself. As I see it (and this is off the top of my head), we
might get a couple of people who really know how to do customizations and
various mods and get them to do demos. There would have to be an
entrance/registration fee to cover the cost of the room (I'm thinking a
large room at a Radisson or some other hotel near an interstate), materials
and possibly fees for those giving the demos, etc. I hate to think that the
only time harp players can get together to share this kind of knowledge is
at the SPAH convention.

Think anybody else would be into a workshop kind of thing like this?
