If your band mates are using dynamic mics (not condenser) go for one of those. I had problems with my bandmates dialing in my condenser AKG 1000 because the settings are so different from the other vocal mics. I finally gave up with their bitching about it and went back to using the 58. I might buy a better dynamic mic in the future.


I'm not sure if the 441 is still being made. It isn't listed in my current wholesale supply catalog. I recall seeing it in past catalogs.

AT did make a killer mic that worked great with acoustic harp. What you play is the exact sound coming from the pa. Not bassier, not trebly. It makes a Beta 58 sound like a toy. AT stopped making it about 3-4 years ago. A friend has one in his home studio. I'll check out the model #. Maybe I can buy it off of him.

Previously when I've recorded I've spent a lot of effort on just keeping the microphone from sounding bad. With the AT I just played and it was easy. fjm
