[Harp-L] Blind Test.

Based on experience with three previous tests, I suggest:

- SPAH usually schedules one hour for seminars and presentations. A blind test can take two or three hours. People talk. The event using the room before you can be late leaving. You may not have access to the room ahead of time for preparations. It takes time to explain the protocol. Many soundings are required for a valid statistical sample. Try to get on the schedule for two hours at the end so you can run over without interfering with the next event in the same room.

- Involve a statistician. Confidence in the results is a non-linear function of the number of samples. You will need an expert for the discussions that are bound to follow the test.

- Use a Hohner ACE48 harmonica with the cavities empty or filled with brass inserts. The construction of the instrument allows quick changes of the inserts. It will keep the variables of reeds, covers, mouthpiece, etc. constant.

Good luck. I’ll help any way I can from CA.
