Yvonnick Prene is a French player who is now focused on jazz chromatic playing in that most vibrant of jazz scenes: New York.Originally from Paris, Yvonnick gained a scholarship to study in New York and he's still there seventeen years later.Yvonnick started out playing diatonic, which he still plays everyday. Initially playing blues on diatonic he developed his overblow technique so he could take on jazz tunes under the tutelage of some of the great players based in Paris, including the great Polish player Greg Zlap.He then transitioned over to mainly performing jazz on the chromatic as he found it easier to play jazz on that instrument, with it's even timbre and without some of the technical challenges of playing jazz on the diatonic.Yvonnick has created lots of harmonica tuition material, including  numerous books as well as a great online website called My Harmonica Studio.
