I think when it comes to melodic harmonica playing for songwriters I don’t think there’s any better than the great Steve Baker especially when he’s with Chris Jones may he Rest In Peace. 

Check out their music, it’s few notes one can make to me is the essence without the excessive notes that other players like to use.  Steve is a master of the understatement less is more while still maintaining a massive music impact. And to his incredible credit Steve tries to avoid the typical blues harmonica clichés that 90% of today’s harmonica players can’t stop playing:). 

Also special credit goes out to Rob Paparozzi also a master at songwriting harmonica playing. 

I’m not too bad at it either :-) I spent eight years in Nashville honing that skill.
