I have done some work for him—he tunes blow 4 and 8 to Bb, and slide 4 and 8 to B—then he tunes hole 12 to B blow, C blow button, C# draw and D draw button.
And I like the tuning, I adopted it years ago and have been promoting the tuning for quite some time (and have made some converts).
But the reason he sounds so good is a result of all the time he has put in studying and practicing the harmonica. The tuning helps, but it’s not the reason.
BTW, I do the same thing except I use a 12 hole in G and retune to Orchestra. Hole 12 for me is E blow, F blow button, F# draw, and G draw button. But I don’t play that hole much!
